I think anyone who had followed just the films would be able to follow the story line they are telling. I am not a very discerning film goer, I generlly suspend all my disbelief at the door. I enjoyed the film. I was surprised how grown up the three main characters were. When I read the book I pictured them as their younger selves. I also didn’tt think we needed the bit in the beginning about the waitress at the train station.
